View Coach Gilbert’s Beachbody Coach Profile
Just a simple father, husband, brother, etc. My fitness journey really started in 2009 when I tweaked my left shoulder while playing with the kids. It resulted in some physical therapy, which lead me to inclining to working out.
After the physical therapy sessions were done, I proceeded to go full board by signing up to a gym and even getting a dozen personal training sessions. After the sessions are done and I was on my own, the lack of guidance was a bit discouraging. By the end of 2009, my gym membership was cancelled and I resorted to a few pushups and situps here and there.
I got serious again on the second half of 2010. This time I went with Beachbody programs. I started with Insanity first, which I got halfway through. I realized that I wasn’t quite ready for Max Interval training, so scaled down to Tony Horton’s 10-minute trainer. That was just enough to get me going. As of this writing (end of September 2010), I’m about done with the first week of P90X with no signs of stopping. I also switched my workweek lunches to Shakeology.
I’ve seen significant improvements in my quality of life. I’m seeing dramatic improvements in my energy levels. I’m able to wake up earlier in the morning and sleep later in the evening (just enough for 8 hours of sleep, no more 9-10 hours for a “good night”) with plenty of energy to spare during the day. I’m able to keep up and enjoy valuable time with my children and family. The increased strength allows me to perform tasks with better speed and agility, and I’m not as exhausted even after tacking on another 20 minutes in my commute.
Now, as a member of That Team NJ, I can help pass on the blessings that a more fitness-inclined lifestyle has given me. I’m excited to see how much we’ll get done in the next few months for both the local and web communities. I’m really looking forward to seeing the great impact this fitness message can do to help others.
